Sola Fasehun (President, Fasehun Films)

Sola Fasehun is a producer and manager.   She graduated undergrad with college & university honors from Carnegie Mellon University w/ a BHA degree. After CMU, Sola moved to LA and worked under Academy Award winning producer Michael Phillips (Taxi Driver, The Sting) in Beverly Hills. Sola also worked on the annual Jerry Lewis Telethon for two years and began an independent film company: Fasehun Films.

In NY, Sola was an Associate Producer on the first Broadway revival of Godspell (starring Orange is the New Black’s Uzo Aduba) and produced a feature documentary in Africa.  Sola was one of the producers of Broken Badge which was executive produced by Academy Award nominated Michael Hausman (Gangs of New York, Brokeback Mountain).

In addition, Sola is an ASCAP member and Executive for Danceaholic Records/Noizy Neighbors/ Bungaloo / Universal Music Group.  She produces music videos, writes music, and coordinates movie & TV music deals for the label.

Sola was also a film, TV, graphic novel, and music writer for the LA based magazine: Campus Circle.

Sola is passionate about volunteering at soup kitchens and other organizations to assist the homeless (such as Interfaith Hospitality Network).  She has been on the committees of fundraisers (The Annual Women’s Lifestyle Expo, Spring Taste NYC) that support various charities including: Dress for Success and City Harvest. More recently, Sola helped to raise money for Covenant House and Annunciation House.

Recently, Sola was selected to participate in the 4th Annual Industry Academy organized by the Film Society of Lincoln Center in collaboration with the Locarno Film Festival. Sola was also a juror and a panelist for the annual Bushwick Film Festival. Long Island Girl Talk recently honored Sola with an award for her work in entertainment and serving the community.

For 5 & a 1/2 years, Sola was a Sales & Distribution consultant at Submarine Entertainment / Deluxe (Winter’s Bone, Tangerine).   Sola’s Production Company: Fasehun Films, was hired by Submarine to consult on many feature films.  During Sola’s time at Submarine the following movies that Submarine has repped have received Academy Awards: Citizen Four, 20 Feet From Stardom, and Searching For Sugarman. For 4 years in a row (2015 – 2018), during Sola’s time at Submarine, Submarine’s films have won the Grand Jury Prize at The Sundance Film Festival: Wolfpack, Weiner, Dina, Kailash. Sola is one of the producers of the feature film: Fire Music, which premiered at the New York Film Festival at Lincoln Center. Fire Music was done in collaboration with Submarine Entertainment.  She is the founder of The Distribution Collective. Sola has an MFA degree from Columbia University.

Sola also worked at UTA where she on the Leadership Team for UTA’s first Diversity Initiative. She was an MP Lit Agent at Buchwald Agency where she helped to develop the first Indie Film Division and Diversity Initiative (as Buchwald Diversity Chair) within the agency.

  2. Sola was a panelist for the NWTF panel on Women in Producing. I appreciated her thoughtful comments and commitment to diversity. Her bio is more than impressive, but what sticks with me the most is her compassionate personality. She made time to engage with the attendees after the panel, which was worth its weight in gold.   3. Sola has been instrumental to my success and my company. She has opened numerous doors. In addition, her notes have allowed me to bring my ideas and scripts to life. Finally, her introductions and meetings with various casting directors have allowed my career to flourish.

  4. I consulted with Sola on the film festival strategy for my documentary feature film: Go Through The Dark. She has been nice, patient, and her notes were incredibly helpful. Since then Go Through the Dark has been officially selected for the 2021 DOC NYC International Competition. We appreciate Sola’s helpful advice and support!
