Sola Fasehun (Producer, Writer, Actress, Singer)

Sola Fasehun is a producer, writer, actress, & singer based in NYC. She graduated undergrad with college & university honors from Carnegie Mellon University w/ a BHA degree. After CMU, Sola moved to LA and worked under Academy Award winning producer Michael Phillips (Taxi Driver, The Sting) in Beverly Hills. Sola also worked on the annual Jerry Lewis Telethon for two years and began an independent film company: Fasehun Films.

In NY, Sola was an Associate Producer on the first Broadway revival of Godspell (starring Orange is the New Black’s Uzo Aduba) and produced a feature documentary in Africa.  Sola was one of the producers of Broken Badge which was executive produced by Academy Award nominated Michael Hausman (Gangs of New York, Brokeback Mountain). A film Sola produced (Foreign Sounds) screened at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner and won Best Student Film at the Rhode Island International Film Festival.  Lunch Lady, a film that Sola acted in, produced, and wrote, was an official selection at the 2015 Los Angeles International Short Film Festival and the Chicago South Asian Film Festival.  Lunch Lady was also nominated for Best Drama (Student) film at the Los Angeles Independent Film Awards.  Man of God, another film that Sola produced, also screened at the Cannes Short Film Corner and Lincoln Center.  Sola produced the film Uniform, adapted from a Jeffrey James Keyes’ one-act play, which stars Laura Gomez (Orange is the New Black). One of Sola’s recent producing projects (The Women of Dev Saab) was awarded the 2015 Panavision/Columbia University Production Grant.  Another project that Sola produced and acted in, Zenith, was the winner of the 2016 Columbia University/Breaking Barriers Grant, recipient of the 2017 IFP Audience Award at the Columbia University Film Festival at Lincoln Center, and a Semi-Finalist at the 2017 Student Academy Awards.  Another film that Sola Co-Produced, Absent, was an official selection at the 2017 Hamptons International Film Festival and won Best Asian American Student Filmmaker at the 2017 DGA Student Film Awards.  For two years, Sola was a member of the Producers Guild of America East Training Program.

In addition, Sola is an ASCAP writer, Account Executive, and singer for Danceaholic Records/Noizy Neighbors/Universal Music Group.  She produces music videos, sings, writes music, and coordinates movie soundtrack deals for the label.  Many of Sola’s songs are on I-Tunes, Amazon, & Spotify.

Sola was also a film, TV, graphic novel, and music writer for the LA based magazine: Campus Circle.

Sola has worked with many companies and organizations including National Geographic Studios, NYWIFT, EMRG Media, the PGA East, SAG, Lighthouse Productions and Sony.

Sola is passionate about volunteering at soup kitchens and other organizations for the homeless.  She has been on the committees of fundraisers (The Annual Women’s Lifestyle Expo, Spring Taste NYC) that support various charities including: Dress for Success and City Harvest.

Currently Sola is a Sales & Distribution consultant at Submarine Entertainment / Deluxe (Winter’s Bone, Tangerine).   Sola’s Production Company: Fasehun Films, assists Submarine with consulting on many feature films.  During Sola’s time at Submarine the following movies that Submarine has repped have received Academy Awards: Citizen Four, 20 Feet From Stardom, and Searching For Sugarman.  Another Submarine film, Life Animated, was nominated for a 2017 Academy Award.  The last four years in a row Submarine’s films have won the Grand Jury Prize at The Sundance Film Festival: Wolfpack, Weiner, Dina, Kailash. Sola is a Co-Producer on the feature film: Fire Music, which will soon be released in collaboration with Submarine Entertainment.  She has an MFA degree from Columbia University.

  2. Sola was a panelist for the NWTF panel on Women in Producing. I appreciated her thoughtful comments and commitment to diversity. Her bio is more than impressive, but what sticks with me the most is her compassionate personality. She made time to engage with the attendees after the panel, which was worth its weight in gold.
